Cermak Plaza is fun!
I took these pics in Nov 1999 at Cermak Plaza, a strip shopping center off Harlem, south of I-290 in Berwyn, IL. The parking lot has many outdoor sculptures, some of which move in the wind, all of which are very whimsical. One funny one (not shown here) is a flattened out Pinto attached to a wall. Also, there are sculptures and art objects along the sidewalk by the stores, which are fun to look at. One of them is a kinescope thing that shows an animated egg beater as you crank it. Ha!
I thought they were from the 1950s til I read the plaques identifying the date and artist of each piece, most of which are from the 1980s. Yes it is a controversial site in the community and people like me are on the side saying, "WOW, I LOVE IT!" Very fun stuff in my humble opinion. Enjoy these photos!
